Today's devotional reading from the LEC Family Advent Devotional is John 1:5 -- The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

I take a Vitamin D supplement every day because my Vitamin D levels tend to be low and I've found that it affects many things with my health -- especially lower back pain. I've been told that if I get out in the sun more (even just 10 minutes a day) that it will help my Vitamin D levels. Now I live in Florida, so you'd think that I would be able to get at least 10 minutes a day of natural, from-the-sun, Vitamin D. But evidently I don't. So I pop one 2000IU of D3 every morning and get another 1000IU in my multiple vitamin. Of course, the analogy in this scripture is that Jesus is the light and Satan is the darkness. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just pop a Vitamin D3 "Jesus" pill every day to put his light into our world? But we all know it's not that easy.
